Miss Universe In My Dreams!

What is the greatest contribution of your country to the world?
"Aside from the fact that the greatest boxer of this century hailed from the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao. No offense, Mayweather! ... As a daughter of an OFW, I believe that the greatest contribution of my country to the world, are my fellow Filipinos who work abroad to seek greener pastures ... we are your mindful neighbors, caring nurses and caregivers, hardworking employees, friendly colleague, and simply a friend when you need a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on, we are there to go the extra mile for anyone ... And let's not forget our smiles, we have the most genuine smiles to turn your bad day into a good one."
- NICOLLETTE DE GUZMAN, Miss Universe in my dreams!

Top 5 questions (... and my answers, just because.)

What is the biggest change you want to see for young women in the next generation?
(Question asked to Miss Netherlands)
“In the world today, where there is an ongoing conflict between nations, religion and even beliefs. You find women and children in the middle of it, as victims displaced in their own homes and taken advantage of. I want women in the next generation to live a life without fear. In the middle of the war, in achieving their dreams, for going after what they believe in, for protecting themselves … I want them to live a fearless life.”

What can women learn from men?
(Question asked to Miss Colombia)
“Women are more emotional than men - we tend to use that in deciding on a lot of things, and we sometimes regret it because we use our hearts instead of our minds, when it can be a combination of both. While men are more decisive, goal oriented and straight forward when it comes to decisions. So I believe decisiveness is something women can all learn from men.”

If you have 30 seconds to deliver a message to global terrorist. What would you say and why?
(Question asked to Miss USA)
“Terrorism is the deadliest form of bullying. And if I have 30 seconds to deliver a message to global terrorist. I will give them my silence - a therapeutic kind of silence, because I think they haven’t heard silence and serenity for awhile. And I will just hope and pray that that 30 seconds of silence helped them ponder that this form of bullying needs to stop, and that silence, peace and serenity is a wonderful thing.”

Are you in favor of removing the swimsuit competition from the pageant? Why or why not?
(Question asked to Miss Ukraine)
“I am firm believer that beauty is skin deep. Although I believe in that, I also believe that women should be confident in her body, in any clothes, situation or in any given time. Swimsuit competition exudes a woman’s confidence in that situation, as well as the Evening gown competition. So I see nothing wrong with it. And besides, if you got it, flaunt it.”

With the ongoing violence against women. What can we do to eliminate it?
(Question asked to Miss Jamaica)
“I believe that the only way to eliminate violence against women is if we all stood up for women’s rights. Even if you’re a man, gay, lesbian, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Asian, American, Latin, African American and the list goes on … It’s everybody’s issue too, not just women. Because in all that aforementioned, there is a woman that changed and touched their lives. And there is nothing more fitting than to honor those women in their lives by protecting other women who are victims of such violence.”

Still upset about Miss Philippines not getting into the Top 5! She had what it takes to deserve a spot, I'm sure she'll slay them all with her wit, confidence and intelligence on the Q&A portion. I believe she's one of the strongest contender in this batch, and she has a fighting chance to take home that elusive crown. I'm not disappointed with her at all ... She represented our country pretty well. I can tell she did her best.

To be honest, and I'm not being biased, the Q&A portion was a disaster. The only contestant that gave a witty and straight to the point answer was Miss Jamaica. After MJ didn't make it to the Top 5, I was rooting for Kaci Fennell. She's drop-dead gorgeous, confident and refreshing! Much to my dismay, she finished fourth place, that gained a loud boo from the crowd. The rest of them didn't give satisfying and memorable answers. Of course I was rooting for Miss USA also, for me, she had the best gown and her Q&A performance is more relaxed. I liked her answer on the Facebook question, but not so much the individual question.

Congratulations to Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, Miss Universe 2014 (2014 not 2015 the pageant is late)!

Next year, better be our year!
